Humanistic Therapy

Humanistic therapy starts from the view that people move towards growth when the conditions are right, and spends its effort on those conditions.

Draft, awaiting clinical review

This page is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed and approved by our clinical team, and it is not indexed by search engines until it is.

What this is about

The core of it is the relationship: genuine attention, warmth without conditions, and an effort to understand your experience from the inside rather than to categorise it. It is less directive than most approaches. That can look like very little is being done, and for many people it is the first place they have been listened to without being managed.

What work here looks like

It suits people who have been talked at, assessed and advised, and who need somewhere to think out loud with a person who is not steering. If you want structured tools for a specific symptom, it is often paired with an approach that provides them.

Nothing on this page is a diagnosis. If you are in immediate danger or worried you might act on thoughts of harming yourself, please contact Tele-MANAS (14416 or 1-800-89-14416, available 24×7 across India) or your local emergency services.
