Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic work is interested in the pattern underneath the problem, and in where that pattern was first learned.

Draft, awaiting clinical review

This page is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed and approved by our clinical team, and it is not indexed by search engines until it is.

What this is about

Much of what shapes a life was settled early and then stopped being examined: what love was conditional on, what got you attention, what was unsafe to want. Psychodynamic therapy looks at how those early arrangements still run in the present, including in the room with the therapist, where they tend to show up in miniature. It is less about technique and more about understanding, slowly and with someone paying close attention.

What work here looks like

It suits people who sense that the same thing keeps happening across different relationships and jobs, and who want to understand it rather than manage it. It is usually longer-term. If you want tools for a specific symptom this week, a more structured approach may fit better first.

Nothing on this page is a diagnosis. If you are in immediate danger or worried you might act on thoughts of harming yourself, please contact Tele-MANAS (14416 or 1-800-89-14416, available 24×7 across India) or your local emergency services.
