Psychiatry, working alongside therapy
Some things are helped by talking, some by medication, and a good many by both. Having the two in one place means you are not the one carrying messages between them.
This page is a working draft. It has not yet been reviewed and approved by our clinical team, and it is not indexed by search engines until it is.
What this is about
A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can assess, diagnose and prescribe. At Fenweh, psychiatry sits alongside therapy rather than above it: where both are involved, the clinicians communicate so that different parts of your care work together instead of in isolation. You are not required to see a psychiatrist to work with a therapist here, and you will not be pushed towards medication you have not asked about.
What work here looks like
If you would like a psychiatric consultation, our roster lists psychiatrists alongside therapists, with their focus and availability.
Nothing on this page is a diagnosis. If you are in immediate danger or worried you might act on thoughts of harming yourself, please contact Tele-MANAS (14416 or 1-800-89-14416, available 24×7 across India) or your local emergency services.
